Launch a Fully Automated Ecommerce Brand

"Automated" gets used loosely in ecommerce, so here it means something specific: once a customer pays, DropShipPOD takes the order from there without you touching it. This page covers exactly what that automation does, what still depends on you, and when it's worth turning off.

What "automated" means here

Automatic fulfillment removes the manual step between a sale and production. The moment a customer's payment lands on your Shopify store, your saved card is charged the base cost and the order is forwarded straight to the print floor — no click, no review screen, no order sitting in a queue waiting on you.

Once production ships, tracking returns on its own too: the tracking number posts to the Shopify order automatically, and your customer sees it without you looking anything up. The full order lifecycle, from sale to doorstep, is laid out on the features page.

The parts you still own

Automation covers production and fulfillment. It doesn't cover the parts of the business that make a brand worth buying from:

  • Brand. The name, the look, the voice — none of that comes from the app.
  • Designs. Automatic fulfillment prints what you upload; it doesn't decide what's worth printing.
  • Marketing. Orders only arrive because someone found your store and decided to buy. That's still on you.
  • Customer relationships. Sizing questions, order concerns, a customer who wants something custom — those conversations still happen through you, not through automation.

Set it up once

Turning automatic mode on takes three things, done once:

  1. Save a card, added securely through Stripe, inside the app.
  2. Set your markup on the products you're selling, so the app knows what to charge and what you keep.
  3. Switch fulfillment to automatic in your store settings. This is a store-wide setting, not a per-product choice — every dropship order in the store follows it.

From there, a working day of sales can go from storefront to production without you opening the app.

When to switch to manual review

Automatic mode isn't the right setting for every moment in a store's life. A brand-new design with no order history, a batch you'd rather eyeball before it prints, or a stretch where you want to pace charges yourself are all good reasons to flip that same store-wide switch back to manual review, where orders wait for you to place them before anything is charged or produced. The automatic vs. manual fulfillment post walks through the tradeoff in full, including a common pattern: launch in manual review, then move to automatic once your designs have a track record of clean orders.
